Grant Township Treasurer – Newaygo County

The Treasurer’s statutory duties are to receive and take charge of all funds belonging to the Township or which are required by law to be paid into the Township Treasury, and to pay over and account for the funds according to law or Township Board decision. The Treasurer is the Township’s agent for collecting taxes.  Tax information handled by BS&A Software Services.  To look up your tax information, click hereThe Treasurer’s Department keeps accounts of the receipts and expenditures of all funds. All funds are deposited into the designated Township depositories and idle funds are invested properly. On the order of the Township Board, the Treasurer must pay out funds. Financial records, accounts, and procedures are audited annually.

Here is a list of her statutory duties:

  • Collects real and personal property taxes
  • Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures
  • Issues township checks
  • Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
  • Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
  • Collects delinquent personal property tax
  • Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting property tax
  • Collects mobile home specific tax
  • Must appoint a deputy
  • Must post a surety bond
