It is the statutory duty of the Clerk to maintain custody of all records, books, and papers of the Township if no other law so provides. The Clerk maintains detailed accounting records. He or She is responsible for meeting notices, minutes, and ordinance publications. Cemetery records and voter registration records are also her responsibility. One of the most important responsibilities that the Clerk has is administering elections.

Statutory duties:

  • Maintains custody of all township records
  • Maintains general ledger
  • Prepares warrants for township checks
  • Records and maintains township meeting minutes
  • Keeps the township book of oaths
  • Responsible for special meeting notices
  • Keeps voter registration file and conducts elections
  • Keeps township ordinance book and resolution book
  • Cemetery Lot Sales and Services
  • Maintains cemetery records
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Must appoint a deputy
  • Must post a surety bond
